Chris Turner Leaving Entercom

By Joe Nelson

This one stings, I try to never give my opinions, just lay the facts out there and keep my personal opinions and feelings aside. I can't on this one.

Not only has Chris been incredibly generous to me through the years with this, that and the other, also being so supportive to me during the difficult times I lost my mom, then my dad. He even picked up a few gifts for my daughter while he was in London. But prior to these, long ago, Chris was my boss at KSON, for Jefferson Pilot. Along with Steve Sapp.

Chris was always fair to me, very friendly and I loved working for him. Nothing changes in the following years.

I am proud to call Chris friend and just know he will land again very soon.

Having said that, here is the article All Access published today. Thanks to them for this.

ENTERCOM COMMUNICATIONS/SAN DIEGO Marketing Dir. CHRIS TURNER will depart the five-station cluster after 31 years due to restructuring. TURNER started in promotions with JEFFERSON PILOT COMMUNICATIONS Country KSON in NOVEMBER 1988 and worked his way up to Promotions Mgr. for KSON, Alternative KBZT and Smooth Jazz KIFM by 1999. TURNER stayed with the stations through two ownership transitions (LINCOLN FINANCIAL MEDIA and ENTERCOM), format flips (Smooth Jazz KIFM to Classic Hits KXSN) and the acquisition of two additional stations (Sports KWFN and AC KYXY).
The unplanned departure is an emotional one for TURNER, as he has been associated with Country KSON since his father began working there in 1974, when TURNER was only six years old. TURNER's last day with the stations will be FRIDAY, JULY 19th.
"Although I am sad to be leaving KSON and ENTERCOM/SAN DIEGO, I have been the luckiest guy in radio to have worked for three great companies and too many wonderful people to mention," TURNER told ALL ACCESS. "I have made great friends, great memories and great radio for 31 years. I am looking forward to turning my phone off at night for a while and trying to sleep past 5:30 am, but there's a lot of steam left in this engine and I'm excited to figure what my next adventure will be."
TURNER is currently seeking his next opportunity and can be reached via e-mail here, or by phone at (619) 933-7116.
