New Morning Show Coming to KyXy

By Joe Nelson

There is a new morning show in town, and it starts Monday on KyXy.

He was born in San Diego. His dad was in the Navy (his port was in San Diego). Rob’s daughter went to SDSU, his son went to MCRD. His grandparents retired in Lemon Grove. He remembers going to Shelter Island with his dad and eating donuts and watching the sun come up. That’s Rob

Rob will accuse Joss of being Canadian. She’s NOT Canadian (her parents are)! She was born in the Bay Area. You’ll hear her yell “I was born in Burlingame!”

Joss is a pretty decent cook (she follows a recipe pretty well), loves to read a good book in a hot bath and she’s on the search for San Diego’s best Margarita.

This is the new KyXy morning show. Rob can fly by the seat of his pants, Joss has a bit of trouble “rolling with the punches.” Rob likes to spend money. Joss is a self-proclaimed “tight-wad.” Rob likes dogs, Joss likes cats. They both have a deep love for 80’s music and apparently for “Back to the Future” (as evidenced …

San Diego Fleet - Week 2

By Joe Nelson

The San Diego Fleet held their inaugural home game Sunday evening, and despite the heavy rain, they managed to weather the storm and finish strong, beating the Atlanta Legends 24-12, evening their record to 1-1 on the early season.

The parking lot was alive hours before game time. It would mark the first professional football game held at (now) SDCCU Stadium since the San Diego Chargers left for Los Angeles two years ago. It was clear that move left a void with pro football fans.

The Mighty 1090's Scott Kaplan was in C-2, tailgating and doing a Podcast from the Cali Comfort tent.

Fans were slinging the football and grilling their favorite foods, despite the impending showers, everyone seemed to be having a great time at the stadium again.

Here are some sights and sounds before game time.

SanDiegoRadio is Branching Out

By Joe Nelson

SanDiegoRadio is my baby. Always has been, always will be. The only thing that I feel it's lacking is consistency. Radio can have some runs of constant action and plenty to write about. There are also times where there is absolutely nothing new. I have tried to fill those times with Spotlights and some other content, but to me, it just is not enough. I need to and want to write more.

I have found a solution. For at least 10 weeks. I have been granted media credentials to the new professional football team in town, the San Diego Fleet. The Fleet is a part of the Alliance of American Football.

The AAF is a league consisting of eight teams. The Fleet will play in Mission Valley's SDCCU Stadium.

There are some familiar names associated with the AAF. Daryl 'Moose' Johnston, Hines Ward, Steve Spurrier, Mike Riley, and San Diego's head coach and local resident Mike Martz. After watching two games last week, I was impressed with the action. One of the plays t…

KOGO To Carry Fleet Football Games

By Joe Nelson

San Diego has a new football team in town, and tonight is the inaugural game for the Alliance of American Football's "San Diego Fleet".

IHeart Radio San Diego's own Rich Ohrnberger, from XTRA Sports 1360 has the color analyst duties, while John Schaeffer, producer for Rich's radio show The Mark (Willard) and Rich Show, will tackle (pun) the play by play.

The rules for the AAF are quite different from the NFL, no kickoffs or extra points to start with.

I am providing some information below for The Fleet, tonight's game is at 5PM. The game can be heard on AM600 KOGO. The game will be carried on CBS.
