Morning Show Vacancy

105.7 MAX FM is minus one show host for the morning drive. 

Jack Murphy is no longer with the station as his contract was not renewed. 

BCA veterans Frank Anthony and Kim Morrison will fill the void in his absence. 

There is no word as of yet if it will be filled or if it will stay as is.

Frank is great for the morning show. And he was perfect as PA announcer at Petco Park. Let's hope the powers-at-be at Max are much kinder to Frank that Mike Dee and Ron Fowler at the Padres were.

boy, we all sound like the Frank Anthony fan club!! Well, all I can say is double ditto to everything above! (and Frank really loves those early shifts.. yup, he does!!

Really a loss. Jack Murphy really got it…. Show prep… things that make you laugh or smile at least once every day. Witty… knew how to stir things up just right. I love Frank too… but I preferred the combo with all of them as Murphy was total Leadership material and it showed that he did his research and prepped for that show each and every day. I'm sure his Co-Hosts and Producer could not argue that. He ran circles around Nolan who always seemed crabby and uninterested.

Too bad, Jack was a great host and the dynamic within the team seamed to work.
The show was good enough to keep me listening from Toronto every day. I hope the powers to be know what they are doing.

Sherri, unfortunately the ratings did not reflect any of your comments at all. Please keep in mind we do not know anything that goes on behind closed doors at stations!

Wolfman Jack Joins Pala Rez Radio

The Wolfman Lives On! … Rez Radio.

Pala Rez Radio 91.3 FM has secured the exclusive Southern California broadcast rights to The Wolfman Jack Show.  The Wolfman will be heard five nights a week at 6 beginning with his Halloween Special on Saturday, October 31 as part of six hours of special Rez Halloween programming.  The WJS will assume its permanent slot every Tuesday through Saturday starting at 6p beginning November 3.

Wolfman Jack, whose real name was Robert Smith – same as the Chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians – hmmm, you don’t suppose … nah, couldn’t be.  Anyway, Wolfman Jack’s rise to become America’s most well-known disc jockey brought him from Mexican border blaster, 250,000-watt XERF in Ciudad Acuña across from Del Rio, Texas to a similar station in Rosarita, Baja California in the mid-1960s – XERB, 1090 AM where he howled for years on tapes shipped across the border from offices in Chula Vista and later, Hollywood.  Those shows were then beamed up th…

(SAN DIEGO, CA – September 25, 2018) It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of a great radio icon, Paul Menard. Menard, best known for his role as Irving Harrigan of the National Radio Hall of Fame morning team show, Charlie & Harrigan, was 81 years old. 
He passed peacefully in a North County San Diego hospital on Tuesday September 25th. Paul Menard was a popular morning disc jockey on KOMA-AM in Oklahoma City as Paul Miller before being teamed with Jack Woods in 1965 at KLIF-AM in Dallas as the newly recreated Charlie & Harrigan. 
Together they worked on-air at WKYC in Cleveland, KILT in Houston, KFMB in San Diego, KCBQ in San Diego and WAVA in Washington D.C. Their ‘Charlie & Harrigan Presents’ syndicated morning show was heard daily in 53 markets, simultaneously, across the country.
