Ian Rose Obituary

We thank you and you listeners for their kind words and prayers for our dear Uncle, Ian Rose.  At this sad time, it provides us much comfort knowing he had so many wonderful friends.

IAN ROSE, LONGTIME SAN DIEGO RADIO NEWSMAN AND IN‐STUDIO TRAFFIC REPORTER, PASSED AWAY DECEMBER 30TH, 2014 IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA.

IAN WAS BORN IN NEW YORK ON JANUARY 28, 1947 AND GREW UP IN CENTRAL NEW JERSEY WHERE HE GRADUATED IN THE TOP FIFTH OF HIS CLASS AT SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL IN 1965.

HE ENJOYED THEATER ARTS WHERE HE SERVED AS THE LOCAL PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL THESPIAN SOCIETY AND PLAYED A LEAD ROLE IN HIS SENIOR PLAY.  

AFTER HIGH SCHOOL HE SPENT A YEAR AT THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF DRAMATIC ARTS IN
NEW YORK (1965‐66).  

IAN BEGAN HIS BROADCASTING CAREER AT WKZO TV IN KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN IN 1967, THEN JOINED THE US ARMY, WHERE HE WORKED AS A D.J. AT AMERICAN FORCES RADIO, FRANKFURT, GERMANY (1969‐70).  

AFTER THE ARMY HE RETURNED TO SCHOOL WHERE HE RECEIVED AN A.A. DEGREE IN JOURNALISM FROM PASADENA CITY COLLEGE (1971‐72).  

HE THEN WENT ON TO WORK AS A NEWS MAN AND D.J. FOR SEVERAL RADIO STATIONS BEFORE BEGINNING HIS WORK AS AN ANCHOR/FIELD REPORTER FOR KFMB RADIO IN SAN DIEGO WHERE HE SPENT THE REST OF HIS CAREER.

HE WAS VERY INTERESTED IN HISTORY ESPECIALLY HOLLYWOOD AND WWII.

IAN WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS FATHER, REGINALD FRANCIS; HIS MOTHER, EDITH JONES; AND A BROTHER, KARL ROSE.  HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS SISTER, LYDIA ANN ROSE OF FLORIDA; NEPHEW, KARL (MARY ANNE) ROSE JR OF NEW JERSEY; NIECE, CYNTHIA ROSE KEYS OF PENNSYLVANIA; NIECE, PAMELA ROSE
OF COLORADO; AND HIS AUNT, HILDA TROTTER OF ENGLAND.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS DONATIONS CAN BE MADE TO THE SAN DIEGO ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY IN
HIS NAME.
