The December 2014 edition of the SanDiegoRadio Spotlight features Bromo Abromowitz! Currently on air both at 101.5 KGB FM on the weekend, and every weekday morning on Fargo's 103.9 The Truck with Ben Ziegler and Jim Babbitt.
JN: What are your favorite parts of your job?
BA: The sole reason I rise at 3:30AM is the thought of putting good theater on the air... sure, there are plenty of prep services available, that most morning shows turn to, I believe we are at our very best when real life incidents come to play. I am used to about 99% of my life exposed. To me, it's part of the job.
JN: Who are your all time favorite musical artists?
BA: I have all of Zamfir's albums, and have started a Zamfir Museum here in Fargo
JN: Tell me about your personal side
BA: AA will always come first for me, I do leave that part out of my personal life, when we are on the radio. NOT because I am embarrassed, but our show is designed to entertain, not to have anyone feel sorry, or threatened by it. It's a tricky slope. I goof around too much, and attempt, key word 'ATTEMPT' to make people laugh, but I am very serious about helping someone whom may need it... anyone.
JN: What are your favorite restaurants?
BA: I haven't really found a favorite place to eat out here (Fargo). I usually love to cook for myself. The Brigantine in San Diego is a great spot.
JN: What are your movie interests?
BA: Lately, my favorite movies are from real life events, of course any movie with Mark Wahlberg, Steve Carrell, and Zamfir are no brainer entertainment.
JN: What are your favorite parts of our city?
BA: My favorite place is about 35 miles East of Alpine, a bit of heaven called Freedom Ranch. Saved my life, and I say prayers every morning to it.
JN: Do you have any hobbies?
BA: Hobbies are slim, my life is simple. I am doing a job that I love so much. Every minute... nothing is worse than doing something you hate, feeling trapped, and not taking risks... before I moved to Fargo, last March, I had never seen snow fall. Coldest weather I was ever in was 26 degrees. Thanksgiving morning here was 17 below, minus the wind chill factor! People still tell me "Man, you haven't seen anything yet" Where last winter they had temps at 50 below. I still get that perplexed look.. "YOU moved from San Diego to Fargo.... WHY???" Because what I do is simple, I get to work with two creative guys, Ben and Jim and put theater in listener's minds. I even hum along to a country song now and then.
I have come to know Bromo pretty well over the last few years. I can tell you this man's life was literally on the edge. I went with him to watch him speak once at Freedom Ranch and have included the article I wrote from that night here. Also I can tell you he lives, eats and breathes radio. He is exactly the type of person radio is fortunate to have. Before he went to Fargo, he was also working in an office building doing collections! He found an opportunity with Ben and Jim and snagged it!
