By Joe Nelson

The September 2014 edition of the SanDiegoRadio Spotlight features Beto Perez!
Beto, thanks for taking the time for www.SanDiegoRadio.org

Joe: What is your current position?
Beto: On-air talent, weeknights on 95.7 KISS FM, Mon-Fri 8pm-12am, Sun 12pm-6pm. This is truly a dream job, since the age of 6 I wanted to be a radio deejay when I grew up. Still haven't grown up much since I am a huge kid at heart, but the job is a dream come true. I love everything about my job, from pushing buttons, to the music, interaction with the listeners, to the unity with co-workers.

JN: Who is your current favorite artist?
BP: I have a trillion of favorite artists, I will name a few: Rick James, Vicente Fernandez, Outkast, 2 Live Crew, Rage Against the Machine, Dr. Dre, Wu-Tang, Kanye West, Bob Marley, The Doors, B-Side Players, Eryka Badu, Sublime, just to name a few.

JN: Tell me about your personal side.
BP: Grew up in the South Bay of San Diego. San Ysidro, Imperial Beach area to be exact. I love the beach, live music, and food!!! OOOOH YES, FOOD!!!!

JN: Speaking of foos, do you have any favorite restaurants?
BP: I have a few places I love to eat at. Phil's BBQ, Pokes in Downtown, Lucha Libre Taco Shop, Golozitos Mariscos, and tamales from the cart lady in Logan Heights.

JN: What movies do you watch?
BP: I am not much of a movie watcher, but if I am going to watch a movie it has to be comedy! I am a HUGE Three Stooges fan, also Chayo Del 8.

JN: Do you have any hobbies?
BP: Some of my favorite hobbies are hiking, attending concerts, working on cars, reading, sports, and eating. I will consider that a hobby (haha).

JN: You said you grew up in San Diego, do you have any favorite parts of the city?
BP: Some of my favorite parts of the city are J Street Park, Julian, Ocean Beach, Imperial Beach, Point Loma, and Old Town. San Ysidro has my heart, and I always find peace there. but as long as I'm  near the beach, or a beautiful site I am happy
