Gary Lee - January 2014 Spotlight
The January 2014 SanDiegoRadio Spotlight features Lincoln Financial Media's Gary Lee
Gary, thanks for taking the time for www.sandiegoradio.org.
What is your current position/title?
Overnight, weekends and fill-in jock for KSON and Public Affairs Director for KSON, Easy 98.1 and FM 94/9
What are your favorite parts of the job?
Is that what you call what I do? Actually, I’d have to say I love every aspect of the job. As Public Affairs Director, I host “Living Better In San Diego,” a weekly public affairs show. It’s great to be able to feature so many different organizations that are doing so much to help others in San Diego. I’ve met some really great people too as a result.
Who are your all time favorite musical artists?
Wow…being a product of the 60s, I’m still very much a fan of that era. My favorites include The Beatles…who I saw in NY in 1966…The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Traffic, just to name a few. There were so many great bands back then.
And your current favorite?
Kanye West…oh wait, hell hasn’t frozen over yet! I have to be honest, I still mainly listen to the classics from the 60s and 70s. I do, however, like Kacey Musgraves and some of the new artists bringing back a bit of the folk music sound, like the Lumineers and Mumford & Sons.
Tell me about your personal side
I am happily divorced and single with three daughters and two granddaughters…and a dog who likes to play footsies!
What are your favorite restaurants?
That’s a tough one…I love Stacked for a good burger in Fashion Valley. Islands is another good one for burgers. Claim Jumper, although I don’t go there as much as I would like. On The Border and Olive Garden. The Omelette Factory for breakfast…and Einstein Brothers. Gotta throw in my favorite places to get a smoothie…Surf City Squeeze, Jamba Juice and Robeks.
What are your movie interests?
I love a good comedy or drama.
Do you have any hobbies?
I like going to art galleries and art shows, festivals and street fairs, listening to live music…preferably the blues…going to the casinos every once in a while, Padres games. And I’m not ashamed to admit it, I can be a couch potato from time to time! It’s not really a hobby, but I do like to volunteer my time and services for various events around town when I can.
What are your favorite parts of the city?
I’d have to say The Gaslamp and Seaport Village are at the top of my list.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
RIP Pete Seeger!
Hey Gary, THANKS!
