A letter from BCA's Mike Shepard on Dave Mason:
It is with very mixed emotions that I (Mike Shepard Programming / Operations Manager) announce the departure of Dave Mason from The Walrus.
Dave has been with the station for over five years as both morning and midday host and Program Director.
He’s one of our most recognized and beloved personalities, and it’s hard to think of The Walrus without Dave.
Dave has been an integral part of our community as well, playing key roles with the San Diego Humane Society, KPBS Television, Children’s Hospital and the annual Teddy Bear Drive.
He’s a very special, one-of-a-kind person. And we are going to miss him dearly.
On the other hand, all of us here at The Walrus are proud and delighted for Dave as he turns the page to an exciting new chapter of his career.
Beginning September 19th, Dave Mason will join K-EARTH in Los Angeles as Assistant Program Director and deejay.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Dave and his family and while we are very sad to see him go, we understand what this means to him professionally and personally.
So, please join me in wishing Dave nothing but the best in his new position. We’ll announce a new midday host soon, but we’ll never replace Dave Mason.
We’re gonna miss you.

SanDiegoRadio caught up with Lee 'Hacksaw' Hamilton today and he shared a few thoughts on his direction now that J.D. Hayworth has moved on.
JN: Saw, what are your thoughts on J.D.?
LH: "Liked him, Got along well with him. He is heading back to political talk shows, where he is really good."
JN: What is the future for your morning show?
LH: "Stay tuned for something unique effective........., I would assume. All I want to do is win, and we will."
*Editor's note: Lee left the date above blank, but sources say look for Sept. 3 for re-start.
ALL ACCESS has confirmed that BCA Sports XEPRS-A (THE MIGHTY 1090)/SAN DIEGO morning co-host J.D. HAYWORTH has exited the station. HAYWORTH, the former Congressman and CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFYI-A/PHOENIX host, joined up with LEE "HACKSAW" HAMILTON earlier this year for mornings.
With HAYWORTH's exit, mornings will continue to be hosted by HAMILTON with a rotating group of local and national sports personalities, including players, columnists, and analysts, as "HACKSAW AND COMPANY." The new version will launch on TUESDAY (9/3).

Just a friendly reminder that Marilyn Hyder's annual Radio Reunion is NEXT Friday, September 6th at 5PM.
If you have not received an invite, don't fret. Just message me on Facebook or email me and I will send one to you. This event is open to current and former members of the media.
See you there!
Today marks the one year anniversary of taking over SDRadio, and eventually shifting over to SanDiegoRadio.org.
It really is a job I enjoy and wouldn't give it up for anything! I have met some tremendous people, and done some exciting things.
I think it's great, when my son was young, I was his little league coach every year. That was 'our thing'.
Now that I have this, it provides a chance for my daughters to be involved, with me, doing photography at the radio events.
I am proud to provide information to the radio community and am humbled by the trust people put into me.
Remember, like I always say. "Let me know if you need anything, I am here for YOU!"
Thanks for tuning in!

Just wanted to drop by and say HI. Been awful quiet on the radio-front. I am working on a few stories, plus the August SanDiegoRadio Spotlight.
I did step away from the computer to have a great trip in Las Vegas over the weekend with my daughters, so my batteries are CHARGED!
Let me know if you have/need anything.
