SMOOTH Move, Kelly Danek

By Joe Nelson

Kelly Danek, radio veteran for 15 years, has submitted her notice to Clear Channel and Total Traffic Networks and has accepted an offer with Radiate Media and will be heard on FM 94/9, KSON and SMOOTH 98.1.

In an interview with Kelly, when asked about this move, she explains “After over 13 years with Clear Channel Communications & Total Traffic Network, I will soon embark on a change in my career path, with Radiate Media, Inc. Working with KIFM, KSON & FM 94/9, I will be doing Traffic, News, DJ work with KIFM (which has been my dream for many years), and helping wherever I am needed. I hope to be utilized to my full potential in this new endeavor, and I cannot wait to tackle new projects and work with the enthusiastic and talented team at Lincoln Financial Media.
I so much appreciate RMI Director/GM Dave Van Dyke, KIFM PD/DJ Mike Vasquez and all others involved in the screening and hiring process, for giving me this amazing opportunity.
I am grateful for all of the experience I have acquired and all the friendships I have made at Clear Channel. In spite of all the changes over the years, it has always been the best job I have ever had, and I will deeply miss many of the people I have had the honor of working with. A special thanks to Cliff Albert and Mary Ayala for not only seeing enough potential to take a chance on me when I was first starting out, but for also keeping me on board all this time. Also special thanks to my first radio boss, Rich Barnes, who, at Airwatch Traffic, saw that same potential and really got things rolling for me.
I plan to stay at Clear Channel through April 12, then take a long weekend before starting my new position April 17th.”
Mike Vasquez, Program Director and On-Air Host at SMOOTH 98.1/KIFM has this to offer "I've been a huge fan of Kelly Danek's for a very long time and I'm thrilled that she's going to be utilizing her extraordinary talents for Lincoln Financial Media.  Her cool and smooth delivery is well known in the San Diego market and her style will work great with all three of our stations.  This is going to be awesome!"
Congratulations, Kelly. This is huge! SanDiegoRadio.org wishes you all the best!
