Happy New Year, my good radio friends.

Just letting you know I will be stepping away from SanDiegoRadio for a week or so due to my mother being in poor health. She appears to be in the final stages of emphysema.
Mom and I today    Fortunately this a slow time of the year for radio, so I don't expect too much to happen. I will be posting the December 2013 Spotlight soon. If anything major happens, you can count on me to post it. I just need my focus on my mom, dad and my kids.

Thanks for a great 2013, and let's make 2014 even better!

Loren Nancarrow 1953 - 2013

Image
By Joe Nelson
Longtime TV anchorman/weatherman/environmentalist/gardener/great guy Loren Nancarrow has passed away.
According to his FB PAGE, his family announced Loren passed at 6:30 tonight after a great 10 month fight with a brain tumor.
Being a native San Diegan, I can recall seeing Loren on the news what seems like every night and I just remember every time he spoke, I just thought, 'now THERE is a man who is just talking to me, like a regular guy, not stiff, or rehearsed, just chatting about whatever.' It was always fun watching him do whatever he was doing. I loved that about him.

Rest in Peace, Loren. You made a difference. You put up one heck of a fight. Nancarrow family: Condolences from SanDiegoRadio (Joe), and my family. Much love to you.
